The Earth spaceship can use various renewable energies to manage its limited natural resources in a sustainable way:
1. Solar energy
• Photovoltaic solar panels: They transform sunlight into electricity. They can be installed on buildings, vehicles, or in solar power plants.
• Thermodynamic solar power plants: They use the sun’s heat to produce steam, which drives a turbine to generate electricity.
• Solar water heaters: They use solar energy to heat water for domestic or industrial needs.
2. Wind energy
• Onshore wind turbines: They convert the force of the wind into electricity. They are generally installed in windy areas.
• Offshore wind turbines: They are installed at sea, where winds are stronger and more regular.
3. Hydroelectric energy
• Hydroelectric dams: They use the force of falling water to drive turbines and produce electricity, and to store energy by storing the water in the form of a lake.
• Run-of-river hydroelectric plants: They use the natural flow of rivers to produce electricity, with a reduced environmental impact.
• Hydroelectric pumps: They store energy by pumping water to a reservoir high up, which is then released to produce electricity.
4. Geothermal energy
• Deep geothermal energy: It exploits the heat of the Earth to produce electricity or heat buildings.

• Space solar energy: It consists of collecting solar energy in space and transmitting it to Earth.
